The Hegelian Dialectic: Thesis + Antithesis = Synthesis
Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel (1770 – 1831) pioneered what is called the Hegelian Dialectic which is the idea that society and social progress is achieved by a process that begins with an existing idea or philosophy (thesis) which is opposed by a competing idea that challenges the original and seeks to change it (antithesis), finally resulting in a synthesis of the two ideas after an ensuing clash and war takes place. Once the process has run its course, the synthesis becomes the new thesis for the next stage of history to then be challenged by a new antithesis producing a new synthesis. Hegel believed that eventually this process would end and history would be complete once the absolute idea was realized which he believed was close to coming to fruition in the 19th century with the rise of the Prussian monarchy whose values he thought would become the standard for all of Europe and even the world. Societal engineers have been making use of the Hegelian Dialectic ever since and thereby wreaking havoc on Western Civilization.
